Ring Advanced Tuck Front Lever
An advanced calisthenics static hold on rings where the body is horizontal and facing forward with a tucked leg position, requiring exceptional pressing and core strength.
Instructions
- Begin from a support hold position with rings at chest height and arms straight.
- Shift your weight forward and allow your body to tip toward horizontal, keeping your chest facing the ground.
- Tuck your knees toward your chest to reduce the leverage requirement.
- Press downward through the rings to maintain a body position parallel to the ground.
- Maintain rigid core tension throughout the hold, keeping your shoulders packed.
- Hold this horizontal position for time while breathing steadily.
- Return to vertical by pressing upward and allowing your legs to drop.
Tips
- This requires extensive preparation and progressive training over many months
- Work through front lever progressions before attempting the advanced tuck position
- Even the tuck position is extremely challenging; many athletes work years toward this hold
- Keep your shoulders protracted and engaged to maintain stability
- Your core must be maximally braced throughout the hold
- The tucked leg position reduces total lever length, making this slightly easier than a full front lever
- Practice this 1-2 times per week maximum due to the extreme demand
- Consider working with a gymnastics coach for proper technique and progression
- This is an elite-level movement not appropriate for casual fitness training
Recommended starting values
