A plyometric exercise using resistance bands to increase lower body power development during box jumps.

Instructions

  1. Stand in front of a box at an appropriate height for your fitness level.
  2. Place a resistance band around your shoulders just below the neck.
  3. Stand on both ends of the band with your feet, anchoring it in place.
  4. Position your feet shoulder-width apart with slight knee bend.
  5. Explosively jump upward by rapidly extending your hips, knees, and ankles.
  6. Use your arms to assist the upward motion, swinging them forward and upward.
  7. Land on the box with both feet simultaneously, sticking the landing.
  8. Step or jump down from the box and reset for the next repetition.

Tips

  • The band resistance increases the difficulty, building greater power output requirements.
  • Focus on explosive power development through rapid hip and ankle extension.
  • Land softly with bent knees to absorb force and reduce injury risk.
  • The band resistance is greatest during the explosive phase, maximizing power development.
  • Perform 3-5 sets of 3-6 reps for optimal power development.
  • This exercise builds exceptional lower body power and athletic ability.
