Primary Muscles

A dynamic lateral plyometric movement that develops explosive power and lateral stability through rapid side-to-side jumping.

Instructions

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, weight centered, with a slight forward lean.
  2. Push off explosively with your right leg, jumping laterally to the left as far as possible.
  3. Land on your left leg with your knee bent, allowing your right leg to swing behind you for balance.
  4. Immediately reverse the movement, pushing explosively off your left leg to jump right.
  5. Land on your right leg with control, maintaining athletic posture.
  6. Continue alternating sides in a rhythmic, continuous motion for the prescribed duration or repetitions.
  7. Maintain balance and landing control throughout all repetitions.

Tips

  • Focus on powerful push-off from the ground; this is a plyometric exercise that demands explosive effort.
  • Land softly on the ball of your foot with your knee bent to absorb impact and protect your joints.
  • Keep your core engaged and torso upright throughout the movement.
  • Increase difficulty by extending the distance of lateral jumps or adding arm movements for momentum.
  • Perform on a soft surface like a gym mat to reduce impact stress on joints.
  • Start at a controlled pace and increase speed as coordination improves.

Recommended starting values
