Primary Muscles

A plyometric explosive jumping movement enhanced with band assistance that develops lower body power and athleticism. Excellent for training vertical jump height and leg explosiveness.

Instructions

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, band looped around a pull-up bar or elevated anchor above your head.
  2. Position yourself so the band provides upward assistance, holding the loop or handles at shoulder height.
  3. Bend your knees into a quarter squat position with arms ready to drive.
  4. Explosively jump vertically, driving your knees up toward your chest.
  5. At peak height, bring your knees up as high as possible, tucking your legs toward your chest.
  6. Land softly with knees bent, immediately reversing into the next repetition.
  7. Perform the movement in a rhythmic, explosive manner.

Tips

  • The band assistance reduces impact and bodyweight stress while training explosiveness.
  • Start with significant band assistance and gradually reduce it as strength improves.
  • Focus on explosive triple extension through ankles, knees, and hips.
  • Land with your weight distributed across the full foot for optimal force absorption.
  • This exercise develops power beneficial for athletics and improves cardiovascular fitness.
