Primary Muscles

A shoulder pressing exercise performed while seated on a stability ball, combining overhead pressing with core stability demands.

Instructions

  1. Sit upright on the stability ball with feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  2. Hold dumbbells at shoulder height with palms facing forward
  3. Keep your elbows directly under your wrists
  4. Press the dumbbells upward and slightly inward toward the ceiling
  5. Fully extend your arms at the top without locking your elbows
  6. Lower the dumbbells back to shoulder height with control
  7. Repeat for desired reps

Tips

  • Maintain an upright posture and engage your core throughout the movement
  • Press the dumbbells in a straight line rather than flaring them outward
  • Lower the dumbbells only to shoulder height to protect your joints
  • Avoid arching your lower back excessively during the press
  • Breathe out as you press and breathe in as you lower
  • Ensure the ball remains stable by maintaining consistent foot contact
  • Start with moderate weights to establish good form before progressing
