Primary Muscles

An overhead pressing exercise performed against a weighted sled to develop shoulder and triceps strength.

Instructions

  1. Load a sled to an appropriate weight and position yourself in front of it.
  2. Grasp the handles at approximately shoulder height with elbows bent at 90 degrees.
  3. Assume a stable stance with your feet shoulder-width apart and core engaged.
  4. Press the sled away from you and slightly upward, extending your arms overhead.
  5. Maintain control throughout the movement, avoiding excessive arching of the lower back.
  6. Return the sled to shoulder height under control and repeat.

Tips

  • Keep your core engaged throughout to stabilize your spine and prevent lower back arching.
  • The press should be vertical with slight forward lean into the sled.
  • Lock your shoulders at the top of each rep to maximize shoulder development.
  • Avoid bouncing or jerky movements at the bottom of the rep.
  • This exercise develops significant shoulder pressing strength and upper body stability.
