rings

A fundamental pressing movement where you lower and raise your body from a horizontal position on the rings, building pressing strength and stability.

Instructions

  1. Begin in a support position on the rings with arms extended
  2. Lower your body by bending your elbows
  3. Keep your elbows at approximately 45 degrees from your body
  4. Lower until your chest approaches ring height
  5. Press through the rings to return to the starting position
  6. Maintain a rigid body position throughout

Tips

  • Keep your core engaged to prevent hip sagging
  • Maintain tension in your entire body
  • Control both the lowering and raising phases
  • Progress by increasing range of motion
  • Can perform with feet elevated for additional difficulty
  • The rings’ instability provides excellent core engagement
  • Good foundation for more advanced pressing skills
  • Focus on quality over quantity
