Mechanic

Equipment
rings

A pressing variation where you perform a push-up movement from a pike position on the rings, emphasizing shoulder development over chest.

Instructions

  1. Begin in a pike position with hands on the rings
  2. Lower your body by bending your elbows
  3. Drive your head and upper body downward in the pike
  4. Press through your hands to return to the starting pike position
  5. Maintain the pike angle throughout the movement
  6. Repeat with controlled tempo

Tips

  • Greater shoulder emphasis than standard push-ups
  • Keep your elbows close to your body
  • Maintain the pike angle throughout for consistent difficulty
  • Start with feet elevated if needed
  • Progress by lowering your feet or increasing repetitions
  • This develops excellent shoulder pressing strength
  • Can be progressed to handstand push-ups eventually
  • Focus on smooth, controlled movements
