rings

A static balance exercise where you maintain an inverted position on the rings, building shoulder strength, stability, and control.

Instructions

  1. Begin in a push-up position with hands on the rings
  2. Gradually shift weight forward and upward, lifting your feet
  3. Kick up to an inverted position with shoulders over wrists
  4. Maintain a straight line from head to heels
  5. Keep your core engaged and body hollow
  6. Hold this position for the prescribed duration

Tips

  • Use a wall for support while building strength and balance
  • Focus on stacking shoulders directly over wrists for stability
  • Maintain tension in your entire body to prevent sagging
  • Practice hollow body holds to improve body control
  • Start with short holds and build duration progressively
  • Control your descent rather than falling off

Recommended starting values

Sensible novice starting points for each goal, for a lifter aged 25–40. Scale down for smaller frames or older lifters. Treat the first set of any session as a discovery set.
