A corrective shoulder exercise that strengthens the scapular stabilizers and anterior deltoid by raising light dumbbells at a 30-degree angle from the front.

Instructions

  1. Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a light dumbbell in each hand at your sides with thumbs pointing upward.
  2. Maintain a tall posture with your shoulders packed down and back.
  3. Exhale and raise your arms out in front of you at approximately 30 degrees off center (between a front raise and lateral raise), keeping your elbows extended.
  4. Continue raising until your arms are parallel to the ground, pausing briefly at the top.
  5. Inhale and lower the dumbbells back to your sides in a controlled manner.
  6. Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions.

Tips

  • Use light weight for this corrective exercise; it’s about control and proper activation, not heavy loading.
  • Keep your thumbs pointing upward throughout the movement to maintain proper shoulder external rotation.
  • Maintain strict form with no momentum or swinging.
  • This exercise is excellent for activating the rotator cuff and improving shoulder stability.
  • Perfect scapular control is critical; avoid shrugging your shoulders.
  • Include this exercise regularly to prevent shoulder injuries and improve overhead mobility.
