Alternating Cable Shoulder PressAlternating Cable Shoulder Press

A unilateral shoulder pressing exercise using cables, pressing one arm at a time. Develops shoulder strength and core stability.

Instructions

  1. Set both cable pulleys to shoulder height.
  2. Stand between the cable columns and grasp both handles at shoulder height with palms facing forward.
  3. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart with a slight stagger stance for stability.
  4. Keep your head and chest up and your core engaged.
  5. Press the right handle directly overhead by extending through the elbow until your arm is fully extended.
  6. After a brief pause at the top, return the right handle to shoulder height in a controlled manner.
  7. Immediately press the left handle overhead.
  8. Return to starting position. One rep equals one press on each side.
  9. Continue alternating sides in a controlled manner for all repetitions.

Tips

  • Maintain a strong core and stable stance throughout the movement.
  • Avoid excessive arching of your lower back.
  • The cables provide constant tension throughout the movement.
  • Press in a straight vertical line, not forward or backward.
  • Breathe out as you press, breathe in as you return.
