Primary Muscles

A loaded carry exercise where two kettlebells are held overhead while walking.

Instructions

  1. Clean two kettlebells to your shoulders, feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Press both kettlebells overhead until your arms are fully extended.
  3. Keep your core tight and shoulders packed under the kettlebells.
  4. Walk forward in a controlled manner, maintaining tension throughout your entire body.
  5. Return the kettlebells to your shoulders and lower them down safely.

Tips

  • Maintain a neutral spine and avoid leaning backward or to the side.
  • Keep your shoulders packed down away from your ears during the carry.
  • Engage your core to prevent excessive spinal extension or rotation.
  • Start with shorter distances to build stability before increasing the distance or load.

Recommended starting values

Sensible novice starting points for each goal, for a lifter aged 25–40. Scale down for smaller frames or older lifters. Treat the first set of any session as a discovery set.
