A shoulder pressing exercise using resistance bands that incorporates external rotation, targeting all three deltoid heads effectively.

Instructions

  1. Stand on the center of a resistance band with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Hold the band handles at shoulder height with palms facing toward your body.
  3. Keep your shoulders pulled back and your core engaged.
  4. Begin pressing the band upward while rotating your palms outward.
  5. Continue the movement until your arms are nearly fully extended overhead.
  6. At the top position, your palms should face away from your body.
  7. Lower the band with control while rotating your palms back to face your body.
  8. Return to the starting position and repeat for the desired number of reps.

Tips

  • The rotational component makes this an excellent shoulder developer that reduces shoulder joint stress.
  • The external rotation engages more shoulder stabilizers than a standard press.
  • Move slowly through the rotational component to maximize muscle engagement.
  • This exercise is excellent for shoulder health and functional strength development.
  • Perform 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps for optimal shoulder development and health.
  • The combination of pressing and rotation makes this superior to standard shoulder presses.
