A compound pressing movement using a resistance band to strengthen the shoulders, triceps, and upper body pressing strength.

Instructions

  1. Stand with feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent for stability.
  2. Step on the band with both feet, holding the ends at shoulder height.
  3. Position your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width with palms facing forward.
  4. Brace your core and maintain an upright, neutral spine.
  5. Press the band overhead, extending your arms fully or nearly fully.
  6. Keep your elbows slightly forward of your shoulders at the start.
  7. Lower the band back to shoulder height in a controlled manner.
  8. Perform the desired number of repetitions with smooth, deliberate movements.

Tips

  • Maintain a stable base by keeping your feet planted and core engaged.
  • Avoid excessive arching of your lower back; engage your core for stability.
  • Press in a slightly forward direction to optimize shoulder mechanics.
  • Control the lowering phase to maximize muscle engagement and prevent injury.
  • Breathe out as you press and breathe in as you lower.
  • Adjust band resistance by standing on the band at different points to increase or decrease tension.
